Tributes have been paid following the death of Belfast city-centre businessman Arthur McAnerney, owner of City Picnic on Castle Street.
City Picnic announced Mr McAnerney’s death on its Facebook page on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. The announcement was reported at 9.43pm that evening.
Tribute to City Picnic owner
In its tribute, the company described Mr McAnerney as a much-loved husband and a devoted father to seven children. It also remembered him as a cherished son, brother, wider family member and friend.

The tribute added that he would be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
