Firefighters attended a blaze at derelict premises on Harford Street in Portadown on Thursday afternoon, August 13, in the second fire incident reported on the street within a week.
Residents said the fire was spotted at around 2pm. The premises were located at the bottom of Harford Street, and emergency services were called after the blaze was seen.
Fire follows earlier tragedy
The incident came after a separate event on the same street in which a man’s body was found in a burning car. The Ulster Gazette reported that the earlier incident was a tragedy and that the latest fire was the second time in a week Harford Street had seen a fire incident.
There was no indication in the supplied report that the two incidents were connected.
Fire extinguished
Local councillor Margaret Tinsley said the fire had been extinguished and expressed thanks to the Fire and Rescue Service. She also confirmed that nobody had been injured.
“The fire is now extinguished with grateful thanks to our fire service, thankfully no one has been injured.”
