A worker was left shaken after being threatened by a man carrying what police believe was a small handgun during an armed robbery in the Middletown area of Armagh.
The incident happened on Saturday, 22 August, with police receiving a report at around 1pm that an armed robbery was under way at a filling station bureau de change in the Monaghan Road area.
What police say happened
Detective Inspector Griffin said officers attended and spoke to the employee, who was unharmed but visibly affected by the ordeal. Police said the suspect entered the premises shortly beforehand with his hood up and his face covered.
“It was reported that a man with a hood up and his face covered had entered the premises shortly beforehand, armed with what we believe to have been a small handgun.”
The man demanded money from the employee, took a quantity of cash and left in a blue Volkswagen Passat.
Appeal for information
Police said enquiries are continuing and are seeking information that could help identify the person responsible. This includes dash-cam footage or other recordings from the area around the time of the robbery.
