A much-loved Armagh fundraising partnership is preparing to reach another milestone after Maisie, the dog who has stood alongside fundraiser Willie Nugent for 16 years, celebrated her sweet 16th birthday by helping with their latest charity book.

The new publication, due out in early November in time for Christmas, will be the eighth book in the series. The books have raised £21,000 so far for specially chosen charities, with Maisie’s latest adventures set to provide the focus of this year’s production.

Maisie keeps working on the next book

Although the birthday might have been an opportunity to put her paws up, Maisie is continuing to work with Willie to help ensure the production schedule is met. The title of the 2026 publication is being kept secret for now.

Readers in Armagh will reportedly be the first to hear what the book will be called. “The first to know will be the boys and girls of Armagh, my number one supporters,” said Maisie.

The story of Maisie and Willie’s work together has developed into a festive tradition. Their latest book will chart Maisie’s exciting adventures and is planned for release early enough to make it a Christmas choice for supporters.

Thanks to Maisie’s Armagh supporters

Maisie also acknowledged the local businesses that have helped keep her healthy and well cared for. She thanked O’Reilly & Fee veterinary surgery in Armagh for looking after her during the last 16 years, as well as Pet World Armagh for keeping her clean and well-groomed.

When asked how she felt about reaching such a significant birthday, Maisie’s response was characteristically unfazed: “It’s only a number!”

She then walked away wagging her tail and delivered another message: “There’s life in the old dog yet!”

The charity book project’s next step is the completion of the 2026 production schedule, followed by the planned early-November release. The book’s title has not yet been revealed.
