St Patrick’s High School in Keady has welcomed Teddy, its new Assistance Dogs Northern Ireland (ADNI) Therapy Dog, as the latest member of the school community.
The school says Teddy will have an important role in supporting pupil wellbeing and helping to create a happy, inclusive and nurturing environment. His arrival is intended to help ensure that young people feel valued and supported during school life.
Support for wellbeing and inclusion
Working alongside staff, Teddy will provide emotional support and encouragement to pupils who may experience anxiety or need additional pastoral support. He will also support nurture and inclusion programmes, while encouraging reading, communication and positive engagement across the school.
Principal Kelley McKenna said: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Teddy to St Patrick’s High School. Teddy will play an important role in supporting pupil wellbeing and helping us to create an environment where every young person feels safe, valued and supported.”
A positive addition to school life
Teddy’s arrival reflects St Patrick’s commitment to its vision of “Belonging, Growing and Achieving”. The school said the approach is focused on helping young people to flourish academically, socially and emotionally.
Pupils and staff have already welcomed Teddy enthusiastically. His calming presence has been described as a positive addition to school life, with the therapy dog now supporting the wider work of the St Patrick’s High School community.
