Police are appealing for information after a house fire in the Mullavilly Heights area of Laurelvale caused significant damage to a property during the early hours of Thursday, 30 July.
A report was received shortly after 3.20am that a house was on fire. Officers attended alongside the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, which extinguished the blaze.
Police said nobody was present in the property when the fire happened, and no injuries were reported. The extent of the damage has not been quantified.
Investigation into cause of blaze
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident. Police are also investigating whether the ignition was deliberate, meaning the cause of the fire has not yet been established.
A police spokesperson said: “Thankfully, there was nobody present in the property and therefore no injuries reported. Significant damage was caused to the property, however.”
Witness appeal
Officers are asking anyone who was in the area at the time and saw suspicious activity, or who has information that could assist the investigation, to come forward.
