Police are investigating a suspected arson attack at a house in Milford after a petrol bomb was thrown through a smashed window while a man was inside the property on Wednesday night.
The incident happened in the Anne Street area at approximately 10.25pm on Wednesday, September 9. The occupant was able to leave the house moments after the device was thrown, and no injuries were reported.
Fire and smoke damage reported
Officers attended the scene with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service. Police said the attack caused some fire and smoke damage to the living room area.
Detective Sergeant Lyons said the report was being treated as deliberate ignition. One line of enquiry is that two unknown males were involved.
Police said one suspect was wearing all dark clothing. The second was described as wearing a T-shirt and brown trousers, along with a face covering. The pair left the scene on foot in the direction of the Monaghan Road.
Police seek CCTV and dash-cam footage
Enquiries are continuing to establish the motive for the attack and identify those involved. Police are asking anyone who noticed suspicious behaviour in the area around the time of the report to come forward.
Information can be given to police on 101, quoting reference number 1697 09/09/26. Investigators are particularly interested in CCTV, dash-cam recordings or other footage of the area that could assist the investigation.
