More than 1,500 people from across the borough and beyond came together for this year’s Culture in the Park weekend, which expanded for the first time into a three-day programme with activities in Armagh, Lurgan and Banbridge.
The event brought together culture, community and creativity across the three locations. Its programme included cultural heritage workshops, live performances, world food experiences, crafts and family-friendly activities.
A weekend of music, dance and culture
The main event at Lurgan Park attracted large crowds, with visitors enjoying music, dance and cultural showcases from around the world. The council said the programme created a welcoming atmosphere and celebrated the rich diversity of the borough.
For residents in Armagh, the expanded format meant the city was one of three locations hosting activities during the weekend. The event offered a programme intended to appeal to families and people interested in heritage, performance, food and creative activities.
Community programme funding
Culture in the Park was delivered by Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council’s Community Development and Good Relations Team. It was funded through the District Council Good Relations Programme under T:BUC.
The weekend’s expansion marked a broader programme than in previous years, bringing activities to communities in Armagh, Lurgan and Banbridge while the main gathering took place at Lurgan Park.
