Plans have been lodged for a new Crocs shop at The Boulevard, Bridgewater Park, outside Banbridge, with the existing Unit 39B proposed for conversion into a retail outlet for the casual footwear brand.
The application is now at the consultation stage, meaning the proposal has not yet received planning approval. The Department for Infrastructure Roads Craigavon Office has been asked to comment, but had not responded at the time of the report.
What the plans involve
Submitted on July 31 by Silvaman Group Ltd of Tipton, the application covers the refitting of the existing retail unit. The proposed work includes a new dividing wall, electrical systems, flooring and an HVAC system providing heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
The proposal concerns Unit 39B within The Boulevard, a retail complex outside Banbridge. No opening date for the store has been confirmed in the planning information reported.
The Boulevard launches Crocs campaign
The shopping centre’s management team has already begun promoting the possible arrival with a campaign asking members of the public to bring in unwanted Crocs shoes. The footwear will be used to create a Crocs archway at The Boulevard.
The campaign is running until August 31. People who bring in an old pair will receive an exclusive discount on their next pair when the new store opens, according to the centre’s announcement.
“Got an old pair of Crocs lying around? Why not trade them in for something back!”
The management team said: “Until August 31, bring your old Crocs to The Boulevard and we’ll use them to help decorate our Crocs archway.” It added that the initiative would give old footwear “a new purpose”.
Crocs describes itself as a global casual-footwear company serving women, men and children. Its website says the business combines comfort and style, and that its brands include Crocs and HEYDUDE, with products sold in more than 85 countries.
For residents travelling from Armagh, the proposed outlet is not in the city itself but at The Boulevard outside Banbridge. The immediate next step is the planning consultation, after which the relevant authorities will consider the application and any responses received.
