Armagh’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations will begin with an open-air concert in the city’s Market Square, bringing together Wolfhound and More Power to Your Elbow for an evening of live music.
The concert is scheduled for Tuesday 16 March 2027, running from 6pm until 8.30pm. Tickets cost £7.50 and places are limited. Organisers say last year’s concert sold out, so people hoping to attend are being urged to book early.
Two acts to perform in Market Square
Wolfhound, an emerging folk band from the heart of Ulster, will perform alongside More Power to Your Elbow. The event listing describes Wolfhound’s music as combining Irish musical traditions with a contemporary sound, while highlighting the band’s performances across Ireland, the UK, Europe, the USA and the Middle East.
The group has also been described as having built a large social-media following through energetic shows and a crowd-focused repertoire. Organisers say its performance will invite audiences to sing and dance along.
More Power to Your Elbow will bring an eight-piece line-up to the stage. The act is presented as a long-established Irish music group whose shows fuse traditional Irish melodies with rock influences. Its performances have taken place in Ireland, Europe and North America, according to the event information.
The concert will be non-seated and is intended as a family-friendly event. Every person attending, including children, must have a valid ticket, and all tickets must be booked online. A valid email address is required to download tickets. At the entrance, tickets can be scanned from a mobile device or presented in printed form. Visitors are asked to make sure mobile screens are bright and magnified enough for scanning.
Information for concertgoers
Access to the concert site will be through Market Street only. Wristbands will be available at the entrance and exit, allowing attendees to leave and re-enter. Alcohol is not permitted on the event site, which is designated as an alcohol-free zone.
Children under 14 must remain accompanied by an adult at all times. Stewards and security staff will be present, and visitors are asked to follow their instructions. Anyone concerned that a child is missing should report the situation to the nearest steward.
As the concert is outdoors, visitors are advised to dress for the weather. If conditions are wet, stewards may ask people not to use umbrellas during the show because of visibility and the comfort of other people attending. Organisers suggest coats, hoods, hats or ponchos instead.
There are several city-centre car parks close to Market Square, and accessible parking spaces are available in all city-centre car parks. However, the square is on a fairly steep incline, meaning the site is not recommended for prams or pushchairs.
People with access or sensory requirements should book a ticket first and then contact [email protected] by 5 March 2027. They should include their booking reference and details of their needs. Organisers say they will try to assist, although only a limited number of requests can be accommodated.
General concert queries can be sent to the same email address. Further information, including the St Patrick’s Festival 2027 general information and cancellation policy, is available through Visit Armagh.
