Football fans of all ages will have the chance to test their shooting skills in a free penalty shootout competition on The Mall in Armagh.
The first Armagh I Penalty Shootout Competition will be held on Friday, August 14, from 12pm to 3pm at the courthouse end of The Mall. The event is open to everyone, whether they regularly find the top corner or have never taken a penalty before.
Free event for all ages
There is no age limit or restriction on taking part, and participants of all ages and abilities are welcome. Organisers say the competition is intended to offer an afternoon of excitement, friendly rivalry and memorable moments in the city centre.
Entrants will take their chances from the 12-yard spot, with prizes available for the highest-scoring junior and adult participants. Junior prizes are for competitors up to 16 years old, while adult prizes are for those aged over 16.
Local businesses provide prizes
The prizes have been supplied by a group of local organisations and attractions: McKvr Sports, The Jungle NI, Armagh Observatory and Planetarium, Market Place Theatre, Mulberry Bistro and Cup and Cone.
The event is being presented as an opportunity for people to enjoy a light-hearted competition in the heart of Armagh, with the title of Armagh I penalty shootout champion up for grabs.
How to take part
People can express their interest in attending by completing the event form. Registration will also be available on the day, so those who have not registered in advance can still take part.
Participants are encouraged to bring their football boots, choose their corner and prepare to take a shot at winning one of the junior or adult prizes.
