A 56-year-old Armagh man has been remanded in custody after appearing at Newry Magistrates’ Court on a series of explosives and firearms charges.
Patrick McEnteggert, of Corrigan Court on Irish Street, was arrested at Corrigan Court in Armagh earlier on Tuesday before appearing before District Judge Natasha Fitzsimons on Wednesday.
Charges before the court
McEnteggert faces allegations including making explosives under suspicious circumstances and possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances. He is also charged with possessing firearms or ammunition in suspicious circumstances and possessing firearms or ammunition without a certificate.
Detective Constable Richard Davidson told the court he believed he could connect the defendant to all of the charges.
Case adjourned for bail application
The hearing was brief. No bail application was made on Wednesday because a suitable address was unavailable.
Defence solicitor Jarlath Fields asked for the case to be adjourned until next Tuesday so that a bail application could be prepared. Judge Fitzsimons remanded McEnteggert in custody, with the case due to return to court next week.
The allegations have not been tested in court.
