Armagh camogs end four-final wait with Premier Junior All-Ireland triumph

Armagh camogie has ended a run of four recent final defeats at Croke Park after the county side claimed the Premier Junior All-Ireland Championship title with a hard-fought victory over Cavan.

The Armagh camogs defeated the Breffni county by 0-17 to 0-15 at headquarters on Sunday, holding their nerve through a tense and closely contested final to lift the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Premier Junior trophy.

Armagh hold off Cavan challenge

The result marked the team’s first final win since 2020 and delivered a particularly significant moment for the players, management and supporters after their previous disappointments on the Croke Park stage.

Armagh were tested by a spirited Cavan challenge, but the side showed determination and composure throughout the contest. The team held strong until the final hooter, with that steadiness ultimately securing the two-point victory.

Captain Rachael Trainor was pictured holding the All-Ireland title as the Armagh players celebrated what was described as a historic day at headquarters.

Homecoming celebration in Tassagh

The new champions were welcomed back to Basil Sheils Bar and Restaurant in Tassagh to recognise the achievement. The establishment laid on live music from Two Degrees and a full homecoming party for the team and supporters.

The success came on a notable day for Ulster camogie, with Antrim also winning the All-Ireland Intermediate trophy. First Minister Michelle O’Neill congratulated both teams and described them as “Ulster’s double All-Ireland camogie champions!”
