Residents in Armagh and across the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough are being urged to check their bin collection information before possible changes begin in the week commencing Monday 26 October 2026.

The changes are part of a borough-wide route optimisation programme. ABC Council says the programme is intended to provide a more efficient, reliable and cost-effective waste collection service while continuing to meet the needs of a growing community.

What is changing for households?

The main change for affected households will be the day on which their bins are collected. Black, green and brown bins will continue to be collected fortnightly.

Information leaflets are being delivered to more than 91,000 homes. Each leaflet contains the household’s new collection schedule and a six-month calendar. Householders are being asked to read the information carefully and keep the leaflet in a safe place.

The council has launched the Bin Changes campaign to raise awareness and help residents understand what the changes mean for their household. The campaign was launched by the Lord Mayor of ABC Borough, Councillor Mary O’Dowd.

Armagh information session

Officers from ABC Council’s Recycling Outreach Team will be available to answer questions and provide advice at a series of public information sessions across the borough.

The Armagh session will take place at Orchard Leisure Centre on Tuesday 20 October, from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Other sessions are scheduled at venues in Banbridge, Richhill, Tandragee, Craigavon, Dromore and Rathfriland.
